Tokyo Asian Meetup FAQ

Everything you need to know about our Tokyo events.

🔐 Before you come to Hibiya

Q1. Why does the start time keep changing?
Japanese sessions do not run to a fixed hour — one might start at 4:00 pm and the next at 2:30 pm. Always check the time shown on this page or on Meetup rather than assuming it matches last time.

Q2. How do I get to HUB Hibiya?
It is directly connected to Hibiya Station, so you can arrive without stepping outside — useful in July and in February alike. Yurakucho is also a short walk away.

Q3. What does entry cost?
¥1,800, the same for every Lounge Asia event in Japan. Please also buy at least one drink to support the venue.

Q4. Which language should I use?
English is the shared language, and that is the main reason many Japanese guests come. You will hear plenty of Japanese around the room too, so switching for a few minutes when you need a break is completely normal.

Q5. Who is in the room?
Japanese people who want an international circle without leaving the country, foreign residents working in Tokyo, exchange students, and travellers. Tokyo tends to draw a more professional crowd than our other cities.

Q6. Do I need cash?
Bring some. Japanese bars are more cash-friendly than card-friendly, and HUB is no exception. Also bring photo ID — a residence card or passport.

Q7. What are the House Rules?
We run a Zero Tolerance Policy:
🚫 No selling: no MLM, business recruiting, or network marketing.
🚫 No harassment: this is not a pickup night.
Anyone who makes others uncomfortable is removed immediately.

Q8. Who hosts in Tokyo?
Kazuma, Tasuku and AustinH. Kazuma founded and runs Totojio. Tasuku studies oceanography and travels constantly. Austin grew up between Osaka and Vancouver, so he is a good first conversation if you are switching between two languages and two cultures.

Q9. Is this a dating event?
No. Friendship first. Lounge Asia is a cultural exchange and professional networking community, and Tokyo in particular attracts people building an international network.
